Force plates

Force plates – are used to for the analysis of forces generated during functional movements. They facilitate the quantification of balance, gait, and strength parameters for individuals. These results enable us to implement adjustments aimed at enhancing movement performance.

3D Motion Capture Analysis

3D motion capture – using our state-of-the-art treadmill, equipped with integrated force plates, with our advanced infra-red camera system, we employ 3D instrumented movement analysis to meticulously examine an individual’s everyday movements. This comprehensive approach enables precise assessment of forces acting on various body parts and facilitates the identification of potential dysfunctions.

VO2max

VO2max – refers to the maximum amount of oxygen that an individual can utilise during peak exertion exercise. Information such as your VO2max, work rate and optionally your blood lactate are collected to understand how your body responds to intense exercise. This allows for the creation of a tailor-made cardiovascular exercise plan based on your physiology, to aid in successfully attaining fitness goals.

Cardiopulmonary Exercise Testing (CPET)

Cardiopulmonary Exercise Testing (CPET) – is a non-invasive method used to assess the performance of the heart and lungs at rest and during exercise. Information such as your VO2max, heart rate and heart rhythm are collected to understand if the body’s response to exercise is normal or abnormal.

This measurement is a gold standard assessment, considered to be the best indicator of cardiovascular and respiratory fitness.

Biodex

Biodex – is an isokinetic machine that measures the functionality of individual muscle groups. Both strength ability and muscle activation are measured to see possible imbalances. It also identifies and treats physical impairments that cause functional limitations, which is the basis of exercise rehabilitation.

DIERS

DIERS – is a posture analysis device that consists of a radiation-free 3D spine and surface scan, that provides information about possible spine misalignments and disadvantageous posture in standing and/or walking.

It also allows for the assessment of minor gait information, such as foot pressures and dynamic hip obliquity.

Centaur

Centaur – is a core testing device, which tilts a person up to 90 degrees and rotates them through a full 360 degrees to assess the ability to activate their deep core musculature. Feedback gained during these movements create a map of overall core activation

Pegasus

Pegasus – is a multi-plane trunk testing device. In Frontal, Sagittal & transversal planes, a person’s isometric strength and ROM can be tested. Furthermore, the device can be used to train these functions in isolation and with biofeedback.

Minotaur

Minotaur – is a cervical spine testing and training device. This machine not only gathers isometric strength data and range of motion, but also trains both of these functions. Uniquely, it allows for assessments in an upright position, testing neck extension/flexion, lateral flexion and rotational strength.

Cardiac Sports Certificate

The benefits of sports on general and cardiovascular health are irrefutable. International guidelines recommend a minimum of 150 minutes per week of moderate-intensity aerobic activity. Despite these premises, competitive sports participation and intense exercise may increase the risk of life-threatening arrhythmias, sudden cardiac arrest, and sudden cardiac death. These tragic events are caused by silent cardiac conditions, which often do not manifest with any symptoms.

It has been widely shown that a simple test as the electrocardiogram (ECG) in combination with an assessment of personal and family history through a health questionnaire is highly effective in identifying most of cardiac conditions that may cause sudden cardiac death in young (less than 35-40 years old) individuals and athletes (competitive or recreational).

MRI

Our MRI imaging department utilises the latest in medical imaging technology to provide comprehensive and accurate imaging services for a wide range of medical needs.

The Body Composition Profile (BCP) is an 8-minute full-body MRI scan used to assess your metabolic health. It also provides valuable information for health and wellness as actionable data to make lifestyle changes

The measurements include:

  • visceral fat
  • subcutaneous fat
  • liver fat
  • muscle fat infiltration
  • muscle volumes

Due to its time efficiency (taking only 8 minutes for a scan), the Body Composition Profile is considered the gold standard.

BCP in conjunction with MRI scans of the musculoskeletal system, cardiac imaging, neuroimaging, and imaging of other vital organs plays a focal role as a Lanserhof Performance diagnostic tool.

OUR EXPERT

Dr Naheem Ali

Dr Ali is the musculoskeletal (MSK) and sports medicine specialist at Lanserhof at The Arts Club. He has over 15 years’ experience of treating patients, working in professional sport, private practice and the NHS. He is currently the lead Doctor at Brentford Football Club.

He has worked in the spinal unit at the Royal National Orthopaedic Hospital (RNOH), the orthopaedic unit at Chelsea and Westminster Hospital, and more recently in MSK hubs providing care to patients with joints, tendon and back problems.

His special interests include: back pain, prevention of osteoarthritis, MSK sonography, the management of acute MSK/sports injuries, stress fractures, tendon injuries (particularly the Achilles and patella tendon) and shoulder conditions (e.g. frozen shoulder and rotator cuff tears). Dr Ali uses an ultrasound scan to carry out guided joint and soft tissue injections for pain relief and joint regeneration.

Dr Ali promotes a multidisciplinary approach to health and well-being, liaising effectively with our personal trainers, physiotherapists, biomechanics team, lifestyle doctors and orthopaedic specialists to get the best results for his patients.
