Inspired by his mother’s cooking, Vrij left a career in telecommunications to pursue hospitality. Since 2008 he has opened and managed restaurants in Kuwait and Dubai, creating menus tailored to the region’s concept and demographics. His time in the hospitality industry took a significant turn when the opportunity arose to collaborate with renowned chefs in Kuwait. This experience exposed Vrij to the vibrant, diverse, and flavourful world of Mediterranean and international cuisines, considerably enhancing his culinary knowledge and expertise.
In 2019, having relocated to the UK, Vrij had the opportunity to work with exceptional chefs at Brasserie Of Light, a part of The Ivy Collection in Selfridges. To further demonstrate his culinary knowledge and management skills, Vrij then enrolled in Hult International Business School to pursue an Executive MBA. After overcoming two years of intense challenges, he successfully graduated with a master’s degree specialising in management.
At Lanserhof at the Arts Club, Vrij’s culinary expertise and responsibility for the Lounge, has already led him to develop a new and improved menu that aligns with Lanserhof’s wholesome and healthy diet principles.
