Prof Stephanie E. Baldeweg

Professor Stephanie Baldeweg is a highly experienced Consultant Endocrinologist at University College London Hospital and Honorary Professor at UCL, with over 30 years of clinical and academic expertise. She is a leading authority on hormones and metabolic health and their interplay with physiology and psychology. She is equally renowned for her ground-breaking research as for her compassionate approach and propensity for looking at—and treating—the ‘whole’ patient.

She specialises in diagnosing and treating a wide range of hormone-related conditions, including diabetes, lipid disorders, osteoporosis, PCOS, pituitary, adrenal and thyroid conditions, and obesity. She is an accredited menopause specialist with the British Menopause Society.

In 2025, she was honoured with the Society for Endocrinology’s Outstanding Clinical Practitioner Award in recognition of her exceptional contributions to endocrinology in the UK and Europe.

A passionate advocate for prevention, Prof Baldeweg empowers patients to take control of their health. She believes early intervention and lifestyle changes are crucial for reducing the risk of chronic conditions and improving long-term well-being.

After graduating from Humboldt University Berlin in 1990, Prof Baldeweg received her MD in Endothelial Function and Insulin Resistance in 2002 from London. She was elected a Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians of Ireland and the Royal College of Physicians in London (FRCP) in 2009. Prof Baldeweg has also held significant national roles, including Associate Academic Dean at Health Education England and Associate Director for Higher Specialties Training at UCL Partners.

In addition to her clinical work, Prof Baldeweg leads a dynamic research program with international research fellows.

Prof. Baldeweg loves spending time with her expanding family, stays active through tennis and pilates, and enjoys a good book. She believes in the power of balance and well-being, both in life and in health.
