May 25, 2021 THE HEALTH PODCAST # 18 – Mica Paris: The Queen of Soul
with Mica Paris
One of the UK’s most respected female soul artists, Mica Paris has been named our “Queen of Soul” – and for good reason. Releasing her debut album ‘So Good’ in 1988, Mica has since gone on to release seven further albums, including her most recent, ‘Gospel’, and has worked alongside the likes of Prince, Boy George and Alexander O’Neal to name a few.
Appointed an MBE in the 2020 Birthday Honours for services to music, entertainment and charity, Mica has also worked extensively in broadcasting, including television and radio for over twenty years. In 2002, Mica hosted the BBC Radio 2 programme ‘Soul Solutions’ and has since narrated and hosted several music documentaries for the station. More recently, Mica explores the church-based roots of her music candidly in the BBC documentary ‘Gospel According to Mica’ – all the more poignant with its airing during the Black Lives Matter protests.
Mica is also a published author: ‘Beautiful Within: Finding Happiness and Confidence in Your Own Skin’ written to inspire confidence and self-esteem in women and others.
In this episode, Mica discusses how her approach to health, fitness and nutrition has helped with her physical and mental wellbeing, as well as a fascinating insight into her extraordinary career.
